Things Overheard...

"Mommy, I'm so hongry, I could eat a firetruck!"

"Thanks for the kiss Daddy, I have a little space for it right here on my cheek." (What if there wasn't space on your cheek?) "Then I'd stick it in my backpack for later."

"But I GOTTA have candy for breakfast! It makes me strong and happy!"

"I know, I can marry YOU, and then when I'm done, I can marry Sinny!"

"Mommy, You're my favorite honeybunny."

(to Sinny) "Come on my darling, let me push you into my room...boy my darling, you sure are heavy!"

"Addi, she's my wife. Cause I love her."

"Mommy, how did I get out of your tummy?"
(How DID you get out of my tummy?)
"Well, the doctor took a knife and cut open your tummy and there I was! Were you scared, Mommy?"
 (A little, but your Daddy was holding my hand).
"That's good. And were you both waiting for me?"
(Yes, we were waiting for a long time for you)
"And I was waiting for boths of you too, cause I didn't have any parents before I was borned and I wanted boths of you parents."

Photo-Op

We finally got around to downloading some pictures onto the computer, so here's a few to let you all know what's been going on in the last few weeks...

First day of school. Evidently we did a good job of picking the right color scheme, because when I picked him up 3 hours later, he had fallen head first into pea gravel on the playground after going down the slide. His shirt was covered in blood from a split lip and road rash on his hands.

I'm not sure...but I think this guy's famous.
(just kidding, I KNOW who he is.)

Justin Roberts concert here in town. Best concert I've been to in a while. Despite the look on the child's face, he DID enjoy himself. (he just needed a nap by this time)

Somebody has taken it upon himself to photograph whatever happens to be in his viewing area, if he can sneak the camera away from unsuspecting parents. Here we have the remains of a popcorn bag. This bag started out as his, until some dork dad came and sat down in front of us, taking it as his own. (Hey! He took MY popcorn!) Our sweet cherub got back in his own way by swiping a feather of the guy's paper bag hat project.

*Bored* game? Not This One!

I loved board games as a child. Candy Land, Chutes and Ladders, Ants in the Pants. You name it. I have this hidden competitive streak.

Since the Little Man is only 3 1/2, I've been  on the fence about getting some board games for us to play. I'm just not sure if he's ready for following game rules, etc.

Hasbro, the creators of board games like Candy Land, Battleship, and Scrabble have come up with unique board games designed to help teach kids " listen well, cooperate with others, share with friends, get along in groups, and act respectfully to teachers and adults."

I present to you...Noodleboro!

There are three Noodleboro games available now to teach kids important social concepts like sharing, listening and  good manners.

My son was instantly intrigued when the box arrived. (He loves deliveries) He was even MORE excited when I said the contents  of the box were for us to play with. Our Noodleboro game was the Learning to Share fun park. Each game comes with the game itself, plus a book about sharing and a cd that can be used in the car as well.

I'll be honest, the directions took a few extra minutes for me to figure out. In my opinion, they could be written out a bit more clearly. I couldn't quite figure out what some of the pieces were for. Once I got everything set up, we sat down to play the game.

The Learning to Share Fun Park is like going to an amusement park. There are four different "rides" that players can go on, depending on how the die is rolled. For each "ride " that is completed correctly, that player wins a token. A separate board shows the sun in various stages, along with stars. One face of the die has a picture of the sun on it. Each time this picture shows up,  a piece on the board is moved closer to the sun setting. When the sun goes down, the game is over and the park closes. The stars are earned when a player wins duplicate prizes and chooses to share them with another player. The goal is to get all of the spaces covered with sharing stars before the park closes.

My son really enjoyed the game, although he did have some problems dealing with disappointment when he did not complete a "ride" and win a token. But he kept trying (and trying...) He caught the point of sharing prizes with me to earn the sharing stars.

We played for about 45 minutes before the park finally closed for the night.

When I asked how he liked the game, I got two thumbs up and a big grin.

Online Magazine Relaunch

Happy Tuesday!

I have officially become a contributor to an online magazine called Blissfully Domestic.

(I know, those who know me IRL know I am neither blissful nor overly domestic)

Whatevah.
